Mesothelioma is one such cancer that is very fast becoming a threat to the modern society. The major reason why this cancer needs urgent attention is that its seeds have already have been sown in the past and in many places and countries it is still being sown. The major cause of mesothelioma is the exposure of the human body to a mineral known as asbestos. This mineral occurs freely in nature and was used quite extensively in the earlier days. Asbestos was not only used in the domestic products but also in commercial and military works. As a result millions of people have been exposed to this deadly mineral without their knowledge.
In many countries the use of asbestos has been banned or regulated. But in many countries the use of asbestos goes on unabated. The apprehension regarding this disease is that the symptoms of this disease appear only after 30-40 years by which time the disease has already reached its advanced stages. At that point of time the best that a physician can do is to make the remaining life of the patient more comfortable. Another factor that makes this cancer deadlier than other cancers is that its symptoms are very much similar to those of other more commonly occurring diseases.
The consequence of all this is going to be that very son we are going to face a huge world population with advanced stages of mesothelioma. All the governments of the world should ban the production and use of
mesothelioma. Enough funds should be earmarked for the research to be carried out in finding a cure for this disease. All the existing facilities must be upgraded to accommodate people suffering from mesothelioma.
